A proper lunch on your break

A lunch break goes by far too quickly, and if you spend it with a sandwich out of a paper bag, you feel it for the rest of the day. That’s why on weekdays at Maksi we cook daily dishes for anyone who wants something warm and filling in the middle of the working day.

Ožujsko Pub Maksi is in Borongaj, right next to Maksimir Stadium, so it’s easy to drop by if you work nearby or are just passing through.

How does Try Me Today Only work?

From Tuesday to Friday from 11 am we cook daily dishes under the name Try Me Today Only (in Croatian, Probaj me samo danas). Every week we publish a new weekly menu with one dish for each day. Once the day is over, that dish is gone, which is exactly where the name comes from.

Sometimes the menu is built around seasonal ingredients, sometimes around a good idea from the kitchen, and sometimes we just want to make something different. To give you an idea, one recent week looked like this:

  • Tuesday: pork tenderloin risotto with vegetables and smoked cheese
  • Wednesday: yakitori chicken skewers, romesco sauce and homemade fries
  • Thursday: slow-roasted veal, mlinci and cabbage salad
  • Friday: grilled sea bass fillet, sautéed vegetables and beurre blanc

Who’s behind the plate?

The daily dishes are cooked by the same team that makes our à la carte menu, led by chef Tomislav Kralj. We love good ingredients and dishes with character. Sometimes it’s a familiar classic, sometimes something a little different, but the goal is always the same: food you enjoy and want to come back for.

When the dish of the day isn’t for you

If the daily dish doesn’t tempt you, the full menu is available too: burgers, tacos, woks, soups and our signature dishes. It follows the seasons and changes regularly, so there’s no room for boredom there either.

Coming with colleagues?

Parking is public, in zone three, and costs €2.30 for the whole day. You’ll find us at Ulica Divka Budaka 18. We’re open Tuesday to Sunday from 9 am, and the daily dishes are served Tuesday to Friday from 11 am.
